Torrents are useful for downloading large files from the Internet. You can pause and resume a download anytime and the more people share a file, the faster it will download on your machine. While there are a lot of torrent clients, uTorrent is considered to be one of the best lightweight clients available for download torrents on Android devices.
The app has a single window interface so you can access all the features and settings quickly. The main window displays a list of torrents along with a progress bar, current download speed and estimated time of download. More details – like the file download size, number of files, seeders/peers count – can be viewed by long tapping on the torrent name.
You can tap the plus button on the top to add a new torrent via its torrent file URL and also specify a storage where the file will be saved. The app also offers a handy search function to find torrents on various torrent sites. You can choose the site of your choice and torrent downloads are automatically added to the app.
Similar to µTorrent for the desktop, the mobile app also offers settings to limit download/upload rate, select incoming port and to manage your subscriptions. You can set the app to download torrents only when connected to a WiFi network to save your mobile data charges. You can also set the app to automatically start on boot – useful if you want to resume downloads automatically.
The app is completely ad free. They also have a companion µTorrent Remote app that lets you remotely access µTorrent (uTorrent) on your home computer over the internet without requiring any complicated network setup.
