Today most people have access to much more music than ever before, and mp3s have changed forever the way we listen to and enjoy music.  The web, and the advent of streaming music services, now are posed to take this transition into the next decades.  However, unlimited access to music is only good if there is music you want to listen to.

Most people already have songs, albums, and artists that they enjoy listening to, but often have a hard time finding new music that is similar to what they already like.   

Imeem – An artist-centered music streaming service, Imeem allows users to listen to steaming songs from thousands of artists for free.  You can enter a name of an album, song, or artist on the search box, and it will show you related albums and songs that you can listen to from that artist.  Additionally, the sidebar shows related artists; you can select these to listen to their music as well.  A large amount of the songs available can be listened to entirely for free; however, some of the songs are limited to a 30 second preview.  Imeem also allows you to purchase songs you are listening to through their own mp3 store, or through Amazon or iTunes.

Deezer – Similar to other music streaming services, Deezler allows you to enter a favorite artist or song, and it will show you other related songs available from that artist.  Deezer then offers a “SmartRadio” that plays songs from that artist and other similar songs.  You can access this by clicking “Launch a SmartRadio” beside the artist description.  If you like a song you are listening to, you can immediately purchase it in iTunes from a link at the top of the player window.

YouTube Music – YouTube is best known for video sharing online, but in addition their standard video offerings YouTube offers a wide range of music videos organized by artist and genre.  Many of the videos available are recordings of live concerts and performances uploaded by the artists themselves, while others are fan performances of the songs.
