Google Docs is great for editing documents in the browser but the problem is that it requires a live Internet connection so you won’t have access to your documents in the plane or when you cab is inside the underground tunnel. Microsoft Office, on the other hand, is a desktop based software so you can use it any time but the problem with Office is that it stores your documents on the local hard drive and thus you may have trouble accessing the files from another computer.

Offisync.com, a new Microsoft Office plug-in developed by a former marketing manager at Microsoft, solves both these problems pretty efficiently.

Offisync installs a new toolbar in your Microsoft Office suite of applications (it supports Word, Excel and PowerPoint) that provides easy access to your Google Docs and Google Apps documents.

Basically, you can click the open button in the Offisync toolbar, browse through documents available in you online Google Docs account and double click any one of them to edit the file straight in the corresponding Office application. When you hit the Save button, the edits or changes are saved back onto your Google Docs account.

Offisync also adds a sharing feature in Microsoft Office so you can private share any document with a limited set of people – just type in their email address and they’ll be sent a private link to view the contents of that document. It can’t get easier than this.
