If your mobile phone bill is running high due to the volume of SMS text messages that you send from the device, here’s a simple tip that may help you reduce cost of sending text messages from a phone – use email to SMS.

Most mobile phone carriers in the US provide an email address per phone number and any message sent to that email will be delivered as an SMS message to the corresponding phone.

For instance, if you want to send a message to someone who is using Verizon cellular service, just send an email to his_phone_number@vtext.com and it will show up on his mobile screen like any other SMS text.

Here are some more email addresses of popular cellular carriers.

• Verizon – 10_digit_phonenumber@vtext.com
• T-Mobile – 10_digit_phonenumber@tmomail.net
• AT&T – 10_digit_phonenumber@txt.att.net

These email addresses are only for US specific carriers but you may still use them to save on International SMS charges. For instance if you are in India or China and need to send an SMS to a relative or friend in America, you can easily use the email to SMS gateway.

The best part is that person can reply to your SMS via email itself so he or she too will save on International SMS charges.

Sprint subscribers can send a text message to a landline phone but they’ll be converted to voice. Just type a text message from your Sprint Phone and enter the 10-digit phone number in the TO field as you would with a regular text message.
