Embed YouTube Videos in PowerPoint Slides

You found an appropriate video clip on YouTube for your next presentation but the problem is how to bring that video inside your PowerPoint slides?
One of the possible options is that you minimize PowerPoint and show the video inside the regular web browser window but the problem with this approach is that it completely breaks rhythm of the entire presentation.
So lets explore some ways of getting the video into the slide itself. But before that, you need to carefully analyze whether that conference room will have live Internet or not.
YouTube in PowerPoint – Offline Mode
If there’s no active connection, you need to download the video clip beforehand and then embed them in PowerPoint.
To do this, go to mediaconverter.org and type the URL (web address) of the web video. Then select the Windows Media format from the drop down and wait for the service to convert that video into the requested format.
Now save the video file to your hard drive (may the same folder that contains the PowerPoint file) and from your PowerPoint menu, choose Insert –> Movie.
YouTube in PowerPoint – With Internet Access
If the room has Wi-fi, you don’t need to download the video but can directly stream it live from your presentation slides.
To do so, download and install the free YouTube Wizard plug-in (just google the name). It’s available for all version of PowerPoint and lets you insert video through a wizard.
It simply requires you to copy-paste the video address and add it to the current slide. You can resize as well as reposition the player anywhere on the slide.
A word of caution though – you may want to seek permission from the owner of the YouTube clip before using them on the slides since they may have some associated copyright issues.
